Meet Our Staff:
Ken Brown, CPA
Ken Brown is an established, practicing Certified Public Accountant in Alabama. He received his BS in Accounting and Economics at the University of North Alabama and continued his education in the MBA program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He has served a broad range of business clients for more than 30 years in his practice. In addition to traditional accounting and tax services, he has worked with clients to make their businesses more successful and assisted with business management, cash flow management and financing. He currently serves on the board of several companies.
Mr. Brown has a passion for start-up businesses and has been involved with several. He has far-reaching experience developing business plans, and strategic planning.
Some of his past work experience includes, working as the CFO at an electronic equipment manufacturing company with annual sales of over $20 million. Mr. Brown worked with the international CPA firm of Ernst & Whitney. He was the Assistant General Auditor at Liberty National Life Insurance Co.
He is a member of the Alabama Society of CPA's and has been a member of other professional organizations. He also has served various civic and community organizations.
Richie Congo, Enrolled Agent
Richard Congo Jr. (Richie) received his BS Degree in Accounting in May of 2009 from the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He also is an Enrolled Agent through the IRS which allows him to represent clients before the IRS and the Alabama Department of Revenue. He has worked for over eleven years, with a variety of clients, resolving issues with the IRS and the Alabama Department of Revenue including negotiating installment agreements and offers in compromise. Richard has also provided clients with accounting, income tax preparation and advising services and has assisted clients with audits such as income tax, payroll tax and sales tax.
Richard is an Eagle Scout and he has a passion for traveling with his wife, especially in the Smoky Mountains. They have two beautiful little girls.
Nicole Dowdy, Office Manager
Nicole has been in office administration since graduating with a BA in Communications in 2013. She’s worn many hats in that time and has experience in human resources, office management, customer service, and process improvement. She loves it when the office is organized, projects run smoothly, and most of all, when clients and co-workers are happy.
When not in the office, Nicole enjoys DIY projects with her husband, blogging, cooking, reading, tennis, and traveling.
Michelle Reihl, Bookkeeper
Michelle graduated from Auburn University in 1989 with a degree in marketing. She started her career as a banker, working for AmSouth Bank in Huntsville and then at First Tennessee Bank in Memphis. While in Memphis, she completed her BMA at the University of Memphis and worked as a product manager in the marketing department of First Tennessee Bank. She moved back to Decatur, Alabama, to raise her two children, Julia and John. Now that her children are grown, Michelle has resumed her career, providing bookkeeping and payroll services for our clients.
When not in the office, Michelle is usually traveling, taking advantage of having an empty nest at home. She loves cooking, reading, watching movies, and time with friends and family.
